Company Description

Exor is the investment holding company of Italy's Agnelli family, one of Europe's most prominent industrial dynasties. The family built their fortune through FIAT automobiles over a century ago, and today Exor holds stakes in some of the world's most recognizable companies: Ferrari, the legendary Italian sports car maker; Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest automaker (owner of Jeep, Peugeot, Fiat, and Chrysler); and Juventus FC, Italy's most successful football club. Exor operates differently from typical investment funds. Rather than buying and selling quickly for short-term gains, the company takes long-term ownership positions and actively participates in governance. John Elkann, the Agnelli family heir who leads Exor, serves as chairman of both Ferrari and Stellantis. The company's philosophy is to 'build great companies' by providing patient capital and strategic support through both good times and bad. Beyond its core automotive holdings, Exor has diversified into healthcare (18.7% stake in Philips), media (The Economist magazine, Italian media group GEDI), and alternative investments through Lingotto (its investment management arm) and Exor Ventures. The company recently sold its stake in truck maker Iveco to Tata Motors for €3.8 billion. Incorporated in the Netherlands and listed on Euronext Amsterdam, Exor has a Net Asset Value of approximately €38 billion. Though the holding company itself employs only about 50 people in Amsterdam, the businesses it controls employ over 400,000 people worldwide. Exor is controlled through Giovanni Agnelli BV, the private company owned by the extended Agnelli family.
