Company Description

JDE Peet's is the world's largest pure-play coffee company, serving approximately 4,400 cups of coffee per second across more than 100 countries. The company owns over 50 coffee and tea brands that you likely recognize from supermarket shelves: Douwe Egberts, Jacobs, L'OR, Senseo, Tassimo, and Peet's Coffee, among others. The company operates across multiple channels: selling packaged coffee in grocery stores, providing coffee solutions to offices and restaurants (out-of-home), operating its own retail cafes (primarily Peet's Coffee locations), and selling through e-commerce. This diversified approach means JDE Peet's captures coffee consumption whether you brew at home, grab a cup at work, or visit a café. JDE Peet's was created through a series of mergers combining European and American coffee heritage. Douwe Egberts dates to 1753 in the Netherlands, while Peet's Coffee was founded in 1966 in Berkeley, California, and is credited with launching America's specialty coffee movement. The modern company was formed in 2015 when Mondelez's coffee division merged with Douwe Egberts, then merged with Peet's in 2019, followed by an IPO in 2020. Headquartered in Amsterdam with approximately 21,000 employees, JDE Peet's generated €8.8 billion in revenue in 2024. In August 2025, Keurig Dr Pepper announced plans to acquire JDE Peet's for approximately $18 billion. After the deal closes, the combined company plans to split into two publicly traded entities—one focused on beverages and another becoming the world's largest pure-play coffee company.
