Company Description
Envipco develops and manufactures reverse vending machines (RVMs)—the automated recycling kiosks where consumers return empty bottles and cans to receive their deposit refund. As more countries implement deposit return systems to boost recycling rates, Envipco provides the machines and technology that make these programs work. The company's product range includes everything from compact single-unit machines for small convenience stores to high-volume bulk-feed systems that can process 120 containers per minute for large supermarkets. Envipco's Quantum machine, which won the 2025 Golden Retail Innovation award, features advanced bulk-feed technology that allows consumers to empty bags of containers without feeding them one by one. The machines use sensors and software to identify container types, verify eligibility, and track recycling data. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Amsterdam, Envipco has become a global leader in RVM technology with over four decades of experience. The company manufactures thousands of machines annually at its production facility in Sebeș, Romania, which expanded in 2024 with €9 million in financing from Invest International. Envipco has already installed machines across Hungary, Romania, and other European markets. With approximately 400 employees, Envipco is led by CEO Simon Bolton. The company anticipates explosive growth as Poland and the United Kingdom launch deposit return systems in 2026-2027, potentially requiring tens of thousands of new machines. With roughly 100,000 deposit machines currently installed worldwide and an expected 200,000 additions in Europe over the next five to seven years, Envipco is positioned at the center of a major recycling infrastructure buildout.
